Tears of the Soul

Staying Dry Inside

Rain splatters against the window sill
tapping like it wants to come in
Knocking salesmen on a Saturday morning

The humidity from the storm causes the window to fog up
If I roll the window down even just a bit, the rain will come in
It will seep in and catch hold of me
Make me wet and soggy, sad & depressed

The rain is not a friend of mine, no, not this rain
This rain only brings gloom
The wetness soaks into your skin and into your bloodstream
Attaching to cells and lower immunity
Not to germs or disease
But the ability of being hurt and protecting your heart

From heartbreaks and aches and mistreatment
The rain lowers your walls of strength
Like the wind attacks an opened umbrella
And all this time I've spent inside
Debating on whether or not I want to stay dry.
