A Compliment for You
Not to be forward or sound rude
but I have a compliment or two for you.
Some choice words and/or phrases
to give to you, very high praises.
Smooth brown skin with a look of dark milk chocolate
So sweet...but off limits.
Long flowing arms and legs
Moving with the grace of a skillful model of life.
Gliding gracefully into any scene
All eyes turn for a chance to glance
at such a magnificent sight
as You.
Eyes full of passion and fire.
A desire for what is known and unknown.
Yes.
It is seen within the windows of your soul.
Such compassion and yet so much built up anger
At the world...
At people...
at Life.
Those who do not understand what they can achieve or be
It is only you who has seen... it.
A strong need to educate all
on what Knowledgeable facts you have learned from life,
only to be Silenced or
Disappointed by their ignorance.
Within your eyes is
a world of a love of natural beauty and
a newfound respect for each experience.
A sense of sensuality, if I may say,
surrounded by an alluring shadow of excitement.
Like a lion waiting to pounce upon its prey.
A collected and well composed facade masks the true self within.
We all are who we are
but only a small few
know what or why we are meant to be.
You have an aura of power
all around you
Illuminating your path as you walk.
The knowledge
The personal point of view that you have of the world
Of our race
Of our generation.
One must wonder
how and where you accumulated such wisdom?
Now for those words I mentioned before
to let you know that you are adored
for the kind of man you present yourself to be
and because of what you represent to me.
A kind, gentle, peaceful, sincere,
respectful, strong, determined, and intelligent.
Responsible. Reliable.
Black man whose struggles early on in life
didn't quite get the best of him
rather encouraged and pushed him to do
better, learn from his mistakes and survive.
