Always Be There
Meeting by chance or chance provoked
I want something more than this
Desire to be held, touched, with caressing strokes
To be doted on with smiles and kisses
Quick phone calls just to say
It is me he is missing
Late night talks of what we both want
Until the moon sleeps and the sun wakes up
When I am sick, brings chicken soup
When I'm well, he does just as much
When he's mad, he uses his head
Leaves or sulks, not hit me instead
Takes me on dates out on the town
Movies, plays, parks, sunset walks
Time together just as simple as that
Nothing major, I don't ask for much
A little appreciation and hugs
Respect, happiness, and love
Calls before he stands me up
Accepts that I'm a gentle soul
Reads my poetry and stays in touch
With how I feel even though he knows
And at those times when we are apart
He thinks about me, like I do him
When he needs something done
I'm the one he calls
Whenever he feels lonely or sad
It is me that he desires
Surprises and memories are additional gifts
Extravagant things only stoke my fire
For he is the only thing I would need
These simple small things, no less no more
Are the things I need him
To always be there for.
