I started off on the path just as happy as I pleased
Smiling all the way, hair flowing in the breeze
Thinking nothing could happen to make me fall to my knees
Well, I have to say I was wrong.
Carrying the weight of my issues on my shoulders
Lugging around my problems in a backpack
Squeezing my concerns inside my minds file cabinets
Sad to say I was abruptly pushed off track.
There was no advance warning of the change to come
I thought it was the right thing to do so I let it run
Plan developed to give back to those who had none to give
Maybe I wasn't supposed to give it to all of them?
Rethinking the decision to help out my whole world
Which consisted of people I know and some I don't
All of which I greatly care about
But maybe I should think about if they care about me?
I put my time and skills into developing my mission
Set goals and levels to be built upon
Didn't think that I could forgo the turbulent storm
If I just asked the Fathers' only begotten son.
Stopped before I went too far and lost what was given
My sincere and kind heart that had given birth to a vision
To better promote my hearts greatest weakness
Seeing all my people succeed with the power God had given.
The plan hasn't been destroyed or through in the trash
He just gave me a reason to pause and step back
To look for answers, to go a different way
To become a better me than I was yesterday.
Only then could I give to those who had none
The support and strength they needed
Through reflecting upon the choices I had done
Along the small detour I detected.
